Installation and Workstation Setup

There are two preferred options for MULTICO installation. MULTICO can be installed and run from the server or have a customer database and update folder on the server and run from local machines. The second option is our recommendation because of speed issues.

Original Installation

  1. Click on the link on the e-mail to get to the Demo Update Center.
  2. Next, click on the link under File Name called multico.zip.
  3. It should then prompt you if you want to either open or save the file. Either choice works.
  4. If you selected save, it's preferred to save it to the desktop.  After the file is finished downloading, locate the file and double-click on it to bring up the list of files.  If you selected open, a window listing all of the files in the zip file should come up after it's finished downloading.  Locate the install.exe file and double-click it to start the installation.
  5. When the Welcome window appears, press Enter or click Next.
  6. Read the text on the screens that follow, make changes to the default folder selections if desired and click Next when ready. NOTE: If you have a network, we recommend that the Disk Image directory be placed on the server. This will allow you to install and update MULTICO on other workstations from the Disk Image directory (see next section).
  7. The next window will ask you to select a program folder to add the program icons to. Click Next.
  8. The installation will end with an Installation Complete dialog.

Workstation Installation

To install on other workstations in a network, go to those workstations and choose RUN from the Windows Start Menu. Click on Browse and locate the Disk Image directory on the server or other workstation. Double click Install.exe, then press Enter or click OK to begin.

Installing in this way will give two options:

  1. Install icons only, This option will put icons on the desktop that will run the program from the directory above the Disk Image directory. This option will also set up the workstation to be able able to download updates to the server and set up the programs to read the customer files on the server.
  2. Full installation will give the option to install MULTICO to the local drive which tends to run faster. This option will also set up the workstation to do e-mail downloads to the network location and share customer folders on the server.
The other thing that this setup does is set the workstation up to read the network Disk Image folder for new updates. When another machine downloads the e-mail update to the network Disk Image and MULTICO is opened another workstation a notification shows that there is an update available on the network and gives the option to update at that time.
This removes the need to have multiple machines download changes or to have disks updated on multiple machines.
