AMS 360 Integration

This bridge supports two-way integration between AMS 360 and MULTICO for Windows (MULTICO). The user can export a policy from AMS 360 to MULTICO and/or export a quote from MULTICO to AMS 360.

Required Personalization - Workstation

Every workstation utilizing the rating integration with MULTICO must have a “MULTRATE” directory off the root of its “C:\” drive. This directory will automatically be created when MULTICO is set up as an Integration Partner in AMS 360 or when a quote is exported from MULTICO.

AMS 360 Personalization

In order to integrate AMS 360 and MULTICO, “MULTICO for Windows” must be set up as an Integration Partner in AMS 360 on the workstation.

The Single Tran Import/Export screen will appear automatically when a quote has been successfully exported from MULTICO to AMS 360 or when a user chooses to export a policy from the AMS 360 Policy screen via “Toolbox” – “Integration” – “Export”. Use Setup on the Single Tran Import/Export screen to create the Integration Partner association with MULTICO.

Integration Partner Setup in AMS 360

Clicking on Setup will access the Integration Partner section of the User Options screen. Click “New” to establish “MULTICO for Windows” as an Integration Partner. After the below fields are personalized as follows, click “Add”.

Vendor Type Rating
Vendor MULTICO for Windows
Integration Type
Integration Directory C:\MULTRATE
*Program Name C:\MULT4WIN\IMPORT.exe C:\MULTRATE\ams.al3

*Designate the drive - which can be local (as illustrated above) or network - where MULTICO resides. For example, if rating resides on your “F” drive, then the “Program Name” should be personalized with “F:\ MULT4WIN\IMPORT.exe C:\MULTRATE\ams.al3”. The drive for “MULTRATE” will always be “C”. Please note that a space exists between “IMPORT.exe” and “C:\MULTRATE\ams.al3”.

MULTICO Personalization

In order to integrate MULTICO and AMS 360, the “AMS 360” bridge in MULTICO must be activated on each workstation. To activate the bridge, open MULTICO Utilities. From the “Tools” menu, choose “Integration Setup”, select (highlight) the “AMS 360” program and then check the “Active” box to activate the bridge.

Integration Workflow - MULTICO to AMS 360

1. Rate the policy in MULTICO.
2. Select the applicable Company quote from the Comparison Chart.
3. From the “Company Specific Quote” screen, click File then Export.
4. The “Export to” window appears. Double click AMS 360 or highlight it and click OK.
5. MULTICO exports the quote – AMS001.AL3 to the C:\MULTRATE directory, and then launches AMS 360.
6. A Login screen will appear if the user is not already logged into AMS 360. If already logged into AMS 360, then the Single Tran Import screen will display, prefilled with data comprising the quote.
7. Import the quote into AMS 360 by clicking the “Import” button. On-line documentation, providing options for importing a record, is available on this screen. Please note that MULTICO currently cannot increment quote file names, e.g. AMS002.AL3. If AMS001.AL3 exists in C:\MULTRATE, it will be overlaid after each export from MULTICO.

Integration Workflow - AMS 360 to MULTICO

1. Export a policy from AMS 360 by clicking on the Export icon while in a policy or by selecting Toolbox, Integration, Export.
2. Select “MULTICO for Windows” as the Vendor, and select the customer and policy if one has not already been prefilled. Click on Export at the bottom of the screen.
3. AMS 360 exports the policy (ams.al3) to the C:\MULTRATE directory and calls MULTICO.
4. MULTICO window appears for the user to select the applicable MULTICO program: Auto or Homeowners.
5. MULTICO imports the policy data from AMS 360 to be quoted.
6. Rate policy in MULTICO.

Functionality

1. The codes AMS 360 and MULTICO use for Passive Restraint, Anti-Theft and Anti-Lock Brake may not always match. Therefore, this information will always need to be verified after any integration occurs.

2. A MULTICO quote can have a maximum of 5 vehicles and 7 drivers. Any unlicensed drivers (plus excluded, nonrated or deferred drivers) listed on an auto policy in AMS 360 and exported to MULTICO will not display in a MULTICO Preferred Auto quote. However, these drivers will be included in the record exported back to AMS 360 to prevent them from being deleted by the quote. Unlicensed drivers will display in a MULTICO Nonstandard Auto quote with the “Licensing” field designated with “Not licensed”, but the “Operator Type” will show “Principal” and the “Date Licensed” and “In State” will default with the month/year of the policy effective date and be grayed out.
